The AwardWallet alternative, without your passwords

AwardWallet alternative for European points collectors

You’ve used AwardWallet for years. Then the price jumped to $49.99 — and half your programmes stopped syncing. If you want a points tracker that works in Europe without your airline passwords, you’re in the right place.

Gast is a native iOS points wallet for European collectors. It tracks Avios, Flying Blue, Miles & More, EuroBonus, and 26 more EU programmes — via screenshot OCR, Google Sheet import, or manual entry. No login credentials. No auto-sync to break. No account required to start.

Why collectors are leaving

AwardWallet led the category for years. Then 2024–2025 happened.

Four documented reasons collectors are looking for an alternative — in their own words. Every quote below is real and sourced from FlyerTalk, Head for Points, and the App Store.

2FA broke the sync — and it can’t be patched

AwardWallet logs into each programme with your stored password to read balances. When airlines turned on two-factor authentication, that model broke — and it can’t be fixed without rebuilding the product.

“AwardWallet was trying to update last night… I received 2 emails from BA telling me it was time to setup 2FA and the update failed. I think it’s the end of the line for AW and me…”
alex67500 · FlyerTalk, BA / 2FA thread · Apr 2024
“Got an email from BA with a 2FA verification code today suggesting that someone else was trying to log in — I checked and it was AwardWallet doing its thing.”

“MFA makes them semi useless these days… very slow to add new companies in Europe.”

“There’s NO WAY to enter a passcode or click the non-existent ‘Update Account’ button that the app claims is there.”

The price jumped to $49.99 a year

In late 2024 AwardWallet raised Plus from $30 to $49.99 a year. EU collectors felt it as roughly €12 → €60 — paying more than US users for weaker European support.

“I canceled within 10 minutes of getting that email — going from $10 to $50 was utterly ridiculous. Bye bye!”

Shared passwords get accounts locked

Because AwardWallet logs in on your behalf, it can trip a programme’s security and lock the account — a risk discussed far more in the forums than the App Store rating suggests.

“It caused my Qatar account to be locked… not worth the risk of having your accounts locked.”
Go197 · Head for Points forum · Nov 2024
“Because of AW, I had my account on QR blocked and I am unable to access it.”
Youngtraveller · Head for Points · Jan 2025
“You must be out of your mind for me to give you username and password for my royalty cards, credit cards, and membership information. This is insane!”

“When you link accounts, all your data and passwords get stored in their database (“encrypted”, sure).”

European programmes that won’t import

AwardWallet’s catalogue is broad, but European support lags — and 2FA makes auto-import of many EU schemes fail outright.

“I can’t import my Miles & More account… I always get an error message.”
Translated from German · “Leider schaffe ich es nicht mein Miles & More Konto zu importieren… bekomme immer eine Fehlermeldung.”
Sparks2199 · App Store DE · Jun 2025 · 2★
“The additional services they offer like telling you about new credit card offers is useless for UK customers as all the deals are US based!”

The switch is easy

Moving from AwardWallet takes about 10 minutes

You don’t need to export anything from AwardWallet first. Gast starts fresh — here’s how to populate it.

01

Download Gast

No email, no password, no signup. Open the app and you’re tracking.

02

Screenshot it

Screenshot each programme’s own app. Gast’s OCR reads the number directly — no typing. Plus

03

Import a Sheet

Kept a spreadsheet? Paste your balances, select the programmes, done — free.

04

Type it in

Tap the programme, enter the number you can see in your own app. That’s it.

Moving your Avios? You don’t need to add British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Vueling, Qatar, and Barclays separately. Gast treats your Avios as one combined balance — add the total once.

Frequently asked questions

Switching, answered straight

Yes — the whole Gast wallet is free, with no account required, no credit card, and no trial expiry. Free includes unlimited programmes (import rate limits apply, not a programme cap), your total estimated worth, Avios-as-one-balance, the shareable hero card, the expiry engine with local notification alerts, and 15 home currencies. AwardWallet’s free tier requires registration and is increasingly restricted. Gast Plus (€2.99/month or €29.99/year) adds Screenshot/OCR import, AI import cleanup, email-statement import, the Points-or-Cash verdict, and the AI Advisor.

Yes. Gast covers 30 EU-curated loyalty programmes: 17 airlines (including Avios, Flying Blue, Miles & More, EuroBonus, Finnair Plus, and Norwegian Reward), 10 hotel programmes (Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Accor ALL, Scandic Friends, and more), and 3 card programmes (Amex Membership Rewards, Revolut RevPoints, and Barclays Avios). All 30 are EU-relevant — there is no US-only content in the interface.

No — and you never will. Gast does not have a credential-scraping mechanism and never asks for your loyalty programme username or password. You add balances via screenshot OCR, Google Sheet import, or manual entry. Nothing about your loyalty accounts is ever sent to Gast’s servers.

AwardWallet syncs by storing your username and password and logging into each programme automatically. When airlines, hotels, and card programmes began enforcing two-factor authentication (2FA / MFA), that login attempt either fails, gets blocked, or triggers a security alert. The problem is structural. Gast does not sync via credentials at all — because Gast never attempts to log in, 2FA cannot interfere with it.

Gast Plus costs €2.99/month or €29.99/year — approximately half of AwardWallet’s EU price (~€60/yr). AwardWallet Plus costs $49.99/year in the US and is perceived by EU users at approximately €60/year, following a December 2024 increase from $30/year. Gast’s free tier is the whole wallet, with no account required; AwardWallet’s free tier requires registration and is increasingly restricted.

No. AwardWallet triggers 2FA codes because it attempts to log in to your BA account in the background. Gast never attempts this — you enter your Avios balance yourself or via screenshot OCR, so BA’s security systems never see an external login. Gast cannot lock your account.

Gast treats Avios as a single shared currency. Avios earned via British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Vueling, Qatar Airways, and Barclays Avios all sit in one Avios balance. You enter the total once (or per programme if you prefer the breakdown) — Gast shows the combined value, the expiry position, and the Points-or-Cash verdict for the whole Avios pot.
